About Me

Hello, my name is Michelle McGillivary, and I have recently completed my third year as a bridge student in the Kinesiology program at the University of Guelph-Humber. Prior to entering the program, I completed two years of schooling at Georgian College, receiving my diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion in 2024. This inspired me to pursue additional education while continuing to develop my knowledge and skills within the field of kinesiology.

My long-term career goal is to become a high school fitness, gym, and kinesiology teacher, while also working toward opportunities in coaching. I am passionate about promoting health, wellness, teamwork, and long-term athlete development through sport and exercise.

This portfolio highlights my academic achievements, strengths, and placement experiences throughout my kinesiology degree and demonstrates how these skills directly transfer to my future goals. Through these experiences, I have grown as a student, coach, and leader while further developing my organizational, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through professional development experiences.

Hobbies & Interests

Growing up, I spent most of my time outside, as I grew up without cable TV, Wi-Fi, and did not have a phone until I was 17. While this is quite different from the way most of my friends grew up, I would never change it, as it sparked a strong appreciation in me for spending time outdoors, being with family, crafting, and playing sports. These interests have played an important role in influencing my future career goals, as they inspired me to share my love of sport with others. I really look forward to doing that in the future when I become a teacher and coach.
